I’m the person behind Clock Out, Branch Out. After more than 25 years working in appliance repair, I’m now learning website building and affiliate marketing, and this site is where I share that journey and help others figure out how to build an online income of their own.
What Does Clock Out, Branch Out Mean?
The name Clock Out, Branch Out represents the idea that there’s more than one way to earn a living.
For most of my life, I’ve worked a traditional job, trading my time and skills for a paycheck. After more than 25 years in appliance repair, I started thinking about what it would be like to build something of my own, something that could eventually give me more control over my time and future.
Clock Out represents moving beyond the idea that your income always has to depend on the hours you work.
Branch Out means being willing to try something new, learn different skills, and explore opportunities you might never have considered before.
For me, that new direction is building websites and learning affiliate marketing.
It’s not about quitting your job tomorrow or getting rich overnight. It’s about starting something on the side, learning as you go, and working toward a future with more choices and freedom.
That’s what Clock Out, Branch Out means to me, and it’s the journey I want to share with others.
Why I started this
After more than 25 years in appliance repair, I wanted to build something of my own and create more freedom in my life. I’ve always enjoyed learning new skills and taking on challenges, so I decided to explore website building and affiliate marketing. I created this site to share what I’m learning, document my progress, and help others who want to explore new ways to earn income online, regardless of their age or experience.
Who this is for
Clock Out, Branch Out is for beginners and experienced people, especially adults over 40, who want to explore ways to earn extra income online, learn new skills, and potentially build a business of their own. Whether you’re looking to supplement your income, prepare for retirement, or eventually move away from a traditional job, you’ll find practical information here about affiliate marketing, website building, and online business.
If you’ve wondered whether this kind of thing is even possible to start later in life, I wrote about that directly in Why 40 Is a Better Age to Start an Online Income Than 20. And if you want the fuller picture of what this site is building toward, that’s covered in Clockout Branchout: Building a Second Income After 40, One Honest Step at a Time.
I’ll share what I’m learning, the tools I’m using, and the challenges along the way, so you can make informed decisions about starting your own journey.
Why I think I’m worth listening to
I bring over 25 years of hands-on experience solving problems, working with customers, and learning new skills in appliance repair. I’m still learning website building and affiliate marketing myself, so I’m not going to pretend otherwise. But I believe my experience, my persistence, and my willingness to learn give me a strong foundation for this.
I’m building my own online business through Wealthy Affiliate and sharing my experiences as I go. My goal is to give you honest, practical information based on what I’m actually learning and doing, not promises about overnight success. If a tool works for me, I’ll tell you. If something is harder than it looked, I’ll tell you that too.
What you won’t find here
I’m not going to make exaggerated income claims or promise you quick success, because that’s not what this is. I’m still learning this myself, so you won’t find me acting like an expert in affiliate marketing with all the answers. What you will find is honest, relatable, encouraging content based on real experience and real progress, without the hype and without the jargon.
Where to start
My short term goal with this site is simple: earn enough passive income to cover my own membership costs. Long term, I’d like that income to grow enough to do this full time and keep building from there. I’m writing about each part of that process as I go through it, so if you’re over 40 and curious about what an online income could look like for you, start with the two articles linked above. They’ll give you a sense of where this site is headed and why I think now is a good time to start, whatever your age or background.
If you want to follow along as I keep learning and building, this site is the place to do it.
